JurnalPost.com — Social media is no longer just a platform for companies to share information; it has become a vital space for building identity and shaping public perception. Consistent visual aesthetics, color palettes, and messaging styles significantly influence how audiences perceive a company.
For companies in the creative industry, visual communication plays a critical role. A well-organized Instagram feed not only creates an attractive impression but also helps the audience understand the company's services, character, and professionalism.
Beyond social media content, communication with the audience can also be achieved through broadcasting and livestreaming. Both approaches allow companies to deliver information in visual and audio formats in real-time.
This approach was the focus of the internship undertaken by Muhammad Javier Zanetti Threefanka, a Communication Science student at the University of 17 Agustus 1945 (Untag) Surabaya, at CV Arindra Production.
During his internship, he was involved in developing Instagram feed designs and live broadcast production activities. These tasks provided an opportunity to apply visual communication theory within a professional creative industry setting.
Social Media and the Importance of Corporate Visual Identity
The growth of internet and social media usage in Indonesia has opened opportunities for companies to reach wider audiences through digital communication.
The Digital 2026: Indonesia report, published by DataReportal in collaboration with We Are Social and Meltwater, recorded approximately 230 million internet users in Indonesia by the end of 2025, equivalent to 80.5 percent of the population.
During the same period, there were approximately 180 million active social media user identities, or 62.9 percent of the population. This number represents an increase of about 26 percent compared to the previous year.
The number of social media identities does not always reflect the number of unique individuals, as one person may hold multiple accounts.
The high level of social media usage shows that digital platforms have become essential spaces for public communication, including when searching for information regarding creative production services, event documentation, and live broadcasting.
In this context, an Instagram account's appearance can be the starting point for an audience to recognize a company.
The layout of posts, typography, color composition, and the consistency of design elements all play a role in shaping the visual impression a company projects.
However, an attractive appearance is not enough. The information conveyed must also be clear, easy to understand, and relevant to the audience's needs.
Developing Instagram Feed Design During the Internship
The internship at CV Arindra Production began with an observation of the company's Instagram account.
This process was conducted to understand the visual character previously used, including color composition, design consistency, communication style, and the types of content displayed.
After the observation, the activities continued with an analysis of the audience's character and the development of a visual concept aligned with the company's identity.
The planning phase included creating a mood board, establishing a color guide, selecting typography, and developing Instagram feed design templates.
The use of a mood board helped define the visual direction before the design process began. Meanwhile, color guides and templates were used to maintain uniformity across every post.
This approach aims to create a visual relationship between content pieces so that the Instagram account does not appear as a collection of isolated posts.
Beyond aesthetic aspects, content creation also considers the clarity of information and the relevance of the message to the company's target audience.
Through this process, the student gained experience in how design decisions relate to communication strategy.
The selection of colors, images, and layouts is not based solely on visual preference but must also consider the information to be conveyed and the company's character.
Involvement as a Broadcasting and Livestreaming Operator
In addition to developing social media content, the internship provided experience in broadcasting and livestreamingproduction.
One of the projects involved was a live broadcast of a karaoke competition held outdoors (outdoor).
The project was executed in collaboration with a partner providing broadcasting and livestreamingservices.
In this activity, Muhammad Javier served as an operator, helping to ensure audio quality throughout the broadcast.
His responsibilities included monitoring sound from the stage, operating mixingequipment, and using a laptop and headphones for audio monitoring.
This work requires precision, as sound quality is a crucial element in the success of a live broadcast.
Audio interference, volume imbalances, or delays in handling technical issues can negatively affect the experience of the audience watching the event online.
Unlike Instagram feed designs that can be arranged and corrected before publication, livestreaming requires rapid responses to conditions as they occur during the event.
Operators must be able to monitor equipment, coordinate with the production team, and adjust technical settings when necessary.
This experience demonstrates that live broadcast production is not just about operating equipment but also requires communication and coordination among personnel.
Visual Design and Broadcasting as Complementary Elements
The development of Instagram feed designs and involvement in broadcasting represent two forms of communication with different characters that can support each other.
Instagram content allows companies to deliver pre-planned information through structured visual displays.
Meanwhile, livestreaming provides the audience with the opportunity to witness activities or events in real-time.
Drs. Widiyatmo Ekoputro, M.A., a lecturer in the Communication Science Program at the University of 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, explains that both approaches play a role in building impressions and closeness with the audience.
“An Instagram feed is often the first point where an audience gets to know a company, while broadcasting and livestreaming allow the audience to experience moments directly and in real-time. Therefore, both need to be planned and executed in a directed manner so that the intended message can be well understood by the audience,” he explained.
He also noted that companies in the creative industry have the opportunity to grow through the utilization of visual communication and broadcasting.
The quality of content presentation and broadcast delivery can be a factor for audiences when assessing the credibility of a service.
However, the effectiveness of visual communication is not judged solely by an attractive appearance or the smoothness of the production process.
Companies must also pay attention to audience response, user engagement, and the extent to which the information conveyed is understood.
Such evaluation is necessary so that the communication strategy can be continuously adjusted to meet company needs and the evolving behavior of social media users.
Internship Experience as an Application of Communication Science
Involvement in Instagram design development and live broadcast production provided practical experience in applying communication science in a work environment.
In the field of design, students learn how visual concepts are structured based on company identity, information needs, and audience character.
Meanwhile, broadcasting activities provide an understanding of audio equipment operation, production team coordination, and handling technical requirements during an event.
Both experiences show that communication is not only about the content of the message but also involves media, production processes, and the quality of information delivery.
Through the internship at CV Arindra Production, Muhammad Javier had the opportunity to connect the knowledge learned during his studies with work practices in the creative industry.
The experience also highlights the importance of adaptability, as visual communication and broadcast production have technical requirements that are constantly evolving.
For companies, developing consistent social media designs and managing planned broadcast productions can be part of efforts to strengthen communication with the audience.
However, the implementation of such strategies still requires continuous evaluation to determine their effectiveness in achieving the company's communication goals.
Ultimately, Instagram feed design and broadcasting are not just activities for creating attractive displays or airing an event. Both are parts of a communication process that requires planning, creativity, technical skills, and an understanding of the audience.
Good visual communication is not just about how a message looks, but also about how that message is understood by the person receiving it.
