CEPU, JurnalPost.com – The Human Resources Development Center for Oil and Gas (PPSDM Migas) continues to expand the reach of its human resource development programs in the energy sector. Beyond serving the training needs of national and multinational Production Sharing Contract (PSC) contractors, this institution under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is also providing competency enhancement opportunities for vocational high school students in Eastern Indonesia.
This commitment is realized through a partnership with SMKN 2 Toili Barat in Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi, to conduct technical training in the oil and gas field.
The training took place from October 26–28, 2026, at the PPSDM Migas facility in Cepu, Blora Regency, Central Java.
During the program, students participated in two training courses, namely Petroleum and Refined Product Tank Measurement Officer and Production Operations for Junior Operators.
Both programs were designed to provide technical understanding and skills relevant to the needs of the oil and gas industry.
Equipping the Younger Generation with Oil and Gas Industry Competencies
PPSDM Migas Production Operations instructor M. Ridwan Ansyori emphasized the importance of mastering knowledge and skills in the energy sector for the younger generation, particularly those from Eastern Indonesia.
According to him, Banggai Regency is a region with strategic potential and dynamics in the energy sector. Therefore, enhancing student competency is a vital step in preparing a local workforce capable of contributing to national energy development.
"Understanding the energy sector is crucial for the younger generation, especially in Eastern Indonesia such as Banggai Regency, which possesses strategic energy potential and dynamics. Through this training, we want to ensure that the local youth are ready to take an active role in national energy development from an early age," said M. Ridwan Ansyori.
Through this training, students are expected to gain an overview of the work processes and competency standards required in the oil and gas industry.
The learning process is not only oriented toward theoretical understanding but also encourages participants to recognize the application of technical skills related to operational activities in the energy sector.
Encouraging Students to Actively Participate in Training
In addition to providing learning materials, M. Ridwan Ansyori reminded participants to make the most of the opportunity to train at PPSDM Migas.
He believes that the experience of learning directly from instructors who understand industry needs can serve as a valuable asset for students when they enter the workforce.
Participants were also encouraged to ask questions, grasp every piece of material provided, and engage in all practical sessions with dedication.
"Make the best use of this momentum, ask questions actively, and follow the practice sessions earnestly because it will be an asset for you after completing the training at PPSDM Migas. Competition is getting tougher in this industry," M. Ridwan Ansyori advised the participants.
This message serves as a reminder that competition in the industrial world increasingly requires a workforce that not only masters basic knowledge but also possesses technical skills aligned with their field of expertise.
For vocational students, the experience of undergoing industrial training can be a significant advantage in preparing for the demands of the workforce after graduation.
Strengthening Synergy Between Vocational Education and the Energy Industry
The partnership between PPSDM Migas and SMKN 2 Toili Barat is a form of synergy between a competency development institution and the vocational education sector.
Through this collaboration, students are expected to have the opportunity to improve their skills while becoming familiar with the work standards applied in the oil and gas industry.
This competency strengthening is also in line with the needs of vocational education to produce graduates who are job-ready and capable of adapting to technological developments and industry demands.
Looking ahead, vocational graduates are expected to rely not only on formal education diplomas but also on technical skills and competency certifications that are relevant and recognized by the national and international oil and gas industry.
PPSDM Migas also welcomes collaboration opportunities for agencies, companies, schools, and both public and private universities that require training, certification, and human resource competency development services.
