BOJONEGORO, JurnalPost.com — Cash payments are no longer the only option when purchasing children's toys. In Bojonegoro Regency, East Java, a number of small-scale merchants have begun utilizing digital payment services, including the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) BRI.
One merchant utilizing this facility is Narto, who provides QRIS BRI payments to accommodate customers who wish to buy toys without needing to carry cash.
For Narto, the presence of digital payments offers an additional choice for buyers. Furthermore, not all customers arrive with sufficient cash, while many people are already accustomed to using banking applications or digital wallets.
"With QRIS, buyers who do not carry cash can still shop. They simply open an application on their phone and scan the QRIS code to make a payment," said Narto.
According to him, using QRIS significantly assists daily sales activities. Buyers can complete payments via their phones, while merchants no longer need to keep small denominations on hand for change.
Toy Merchants in Bojonegoro Begin Utilizing Digital Payments
Narto noted that customers buying toys have diverse needs. Some are parents looking for toys for their children, while others are buying gifts for family members.
In these trade activities, payment obstacles sometimes arise when buyers do not carry cash or the amount available is insufficient.
Such situations are one of the reasons Narto provides the QRIS BRI facility at his place of business.
"Sometimes a buyer has already chosen a toy, but it turns out they have insufficient cash or no cash at all. If there is QRIS, they can still pay via their phone," he explained.
The availability of digital payment facilities gives customers more options when transacting. They can still use cash or choose to pay through applications that support QRIS.
For small merchants, this choice of payment methods can also be part of improving service to consumers.
However, Narto does not view digital payments as a replacement for all cash transactions. Both methods can be used according to the customer's needs.
QRIS BRI Simplifies Transactions Without Need for Change
One of the benefits Narto feels from using QRIS is the ease of completing transactions with buyers.
With cash transactions, merchants sometimes have to find small denominations to provide change. This condition can make the payment process take longer, especially when small change is unavailable.
Through QRIS, customers simply enter the payment amount, verify the transaction information, and then complete the payment using an application available on their phone.
The merchant can then verify that the payment was successful via a notification or transaction history before handing the goods over to the buyer.
Nevertheless, the use of digital services still requires attention to transaction security. Merchants need to ensure the payment amount is correct and not rely solely on screenshots of transfer receipts shown by customers.
QRIS itself is a standard QR code for payments developed by Bank Indonesia in collaboration with the payment system industry.
With this standard, customers do not have to use a BRI application to pay via QRIS BRI. Payments can also be made using other bank applications or electronic wallets that support QRIS.
This convenience is what allows digital payments to be used in various community economic activities, ranging from buying household necessities to shopping for children's toys.
MSMEs Encouraged to Adapt to Consumer Habits
The use of QRIS by toy merchants in Bojonegoro shows that advancements in payment technology are beginning to reach smaller-scale trade businesses.
Not only modern stores or shopping centers, but merchants serving daily needs can also utilize digital payment facilities.
For micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the ability to adapt services to consumer habits is one of the things that needs to be considered.
However, the implementation of digital payments still needs to consider the conditions of each business, including internet access, understanding of application usage, and applicable service fees according to regulations.
Narto hopes that more people will become familiar with QRIS and utilize it for various transaction needs.
He also wants digital payment services to be more accessible to small merchants so that MSME players are not left behind in following technological developments.
According to him, payment convenience is a form of service that merchants can provide to customers.
"The important thing is that the buyer feels it is easy and comfortable when transacting. Now the era is becoming more practical. Not only shopping at big stores, but buying children's toys can also use QRIS," he concluded.
Cash and Digital Payments Remain Options
The presence of QRIS BRI at Narto's business is an example of how changing community habits are influencing trade activities in the region.
Digital payments provide an alternative for customers who do not carry cash, while cash transactions can still be used by people who are more comfortable with conventional payment methods.
For merchants, providing both options can help reach customers with different payment habits.
Although it seems simple, the use of QRIS at a toy stall shows how digital financial services are becoming closer to community activities.
Now, the convenience of cashless transactions can be enjoyed not only when shopping at large shopping centers, but also when parents buy toys for their children in Bojonegoro.
