The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UMI, various professors, the Vice Chairman of KADIN Indonesia, the Chairmen of KADIN for South Sulawesi and Makassar, the Chairman of the Indonesian Asphalt Concrete Association, and the heads of Inkindo and Perkindo for South Sulawesi, alongside numerous academics, researchers, and construction practitioners.

In his remarks, Anis expressed his appreciation to the authors, particularly Prof. Dr. Ir. Hanafi Ashad, MT., IPM., ASEAN Eng., for the publication of the book, which he noted makes a significant contribution to the development of knowledge and insight in the field of concrete technology.

According to Anis, the development of concrete technology holds a strategic position in addressing the needs of ever-evolving construction projects.

He stated that concrete is no longer viewed merely as a construction material but has become a vital part of a development ecosystem that demands higher quality, efficiency, innovation, durability, and sustainability.

“For the cement and construction industry, concrete is not just a material for building structures. It is a crucial part of the development ecosystem that must continue to evolve to meet demands for quality, efficiency, innovation, durability, and sustainability,” said Anis.

Modern Concrete Technology Book Viewed as Strategic

Anis considers the book Modern Concrete Technology: Materials, Innovation, and Applications to be strategically valuable because it bridges academic knowledge, innovation, and practical field requirements.

This aligns with the spirit of PT Semen Tonasa, which continues to promote innovation while strengthening relationships between the industrial world, universities, researchers, and various stakeholders.

“We hope this book will not only serve as a reference for students and academics but also provide benefits for engineers, construction practitioners, developers, business owners, and the construction material industry in producing increasingly high-quality and sustainable development solutions,” he explained.

According to Anis, the advancement of knowledge in the construction sector requires a strong connection to industrial needs.

In this way, research results and innovations from universities can be developed and applied to address various construction challenges in the field.

University-Industry Collaboration Needs Expansion

Anis also encouraged the strengthening of collaboration between universities and industry, particularly in research, material development, construction technology innovation, and the improvement of human resource competencies.

Such collaboration is considered a vital component in enhancing the competitiveness of the national construction industry.

“Collaboration between universities and industry is a key to generating innovations capable of meeting development needs. Therefore, the scope for cooperation in research, material development, and construction technology must continue to be expanded,” he added.

He expressed his hope that the relationship between academics and industry players will not stop at discussions or scientific studies but will evolve into collaborations that produce concrete innovations and solutions for development.

Semen Tonasa Promotes Eco-Friendly Products

During the event, Anis also touched upon PT Semen Tonasa’s commitment to promoting sustainability-oriented innovation.

In line with the vision of realizing an environmentally conscious cement industry, the company continues to innovate across various lines, including the development and use of more eco-friendly products.

This step is part of the company’s strategy to support decarbonization programs while maintaining product quality and adapting to market needs.

According to Anis, the transformation of the construction industry toward sustainable development requires the support of quality materials, increasingly innovative technology, and continuous knowledge development.

He also extended his congratulations on the publication of the book Modern Concrete Technology: Materials, Innovation, and Applications and expressed his hope that the work would provide broad benefits to the world of education and the construction industry.

“May this book provide wide-ranging benefits, serve as a source of inspiration for the next generation of engineers, and make a tangible contribution to the advancement of knowledge, the cement industry, and Indonesia’s infrastructure development,” Anis concluded.

Anis emphasized that high-quality infrastructure development cannot be achieved by one party alone. It requires synergy between the government, industry, academics, researchers, and practitioners to produce more effective and sustainable development.

“Building quality infrastructure requires superior materials, innovative technology, and constantly evolving knowledge,” he closed.
