SURABAYA, JurnalPost.com — Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to strengthen its contribution to higher education development while supporting the global sustainable development agenda. This commitment was demonstrated through the participation of the Center for Educational Innovation and Learning Technology (PIPTP) UNAIR in the International Faculty Development Program (IFDP) hosted by the Parul Institute of Technology, Parul University, India, on September 17, 2026.

At the international forum, PIPTP UNAIR was represented by Dr. Nilam Andalia Kurniasari, Coordinator of the Capacity Development and Program Evaluation Division (Division II) at PIPTP UNAIR.

She presented a session titled “Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education: Universitas Airlangga's Best Practices,” which reviewed UNAIR's various best practices in integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education.

This year's IFDP carried the theme “Transforming Education for Sustainable Development: Interdisciplinary Teaching, Digital Inclusion, Ethics, and Well-being.” The forum brought together dozens of academics and education practitioners from various countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe.

In her presentation, Dr. Nilam explained that UNAIR's commitment to the SDGs goes beyond policy, as it is implemented through various programs that integrate modern pedagogy, technology utilization, and community service.

These efforts have contributed to the international recognition achieved by UNAIR. In the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, UNAIR successfully ranked 15th globally and first in Indonesia.

Promoting Quality Education through AMOORA

One of the best practices introduced at the forum was the development of the Airlangga Massive Open Online Resources Academy (AMOORA) as part of the digital learning transformation at UNAIR.

Through AMOORA, PIPTP UNAIR provides various microcredential courses and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that are accessible to a wider public.

The platform allows participants to access learning materials without being limited by time or space, making higher education more open, adaptive, and inclusive.

The program serves as one of UNAIR's contributions to supporting SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly in expanding public access to learning resources that are relevant to technological advancements and global needs.

PIPTP UNAIR also strives to ensure that the learning innovations developed not only benefit the academic community but also reach the wider public.

Professional Certification to Enhance Student Competitiveness

In addition to strengthening digital learning, Dr. Nilam highlighted the contributions of the UNAIR Professional Certification Institute (LSP) , which operates under PIPTP UNAIR, in supporting SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

One implementation is the free professional certification program for UNAIR students from lower-income backgrounds.

This affirmative program specifically targets recipients of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-Kuliah) and students facing financial limitations.

Through this program, students have the opportunity to improve their competencies and gain professional recognition without the burden of certification costs.

Dr. Nilam explained that professional certification is an important instrument for strengthening student readiness for the workforce. With measurable and certified competencies, students are expected to have better competitiveness after completing their education.

This approach demonstrates that educational development is not only related to academic processes while students are on campus but also includes efforts to prepare them to enter the professional world more competitively and inclusively.

Strengthening International Academic Networks

Dr. Nilam Andalia Kurniasari's participation as a representative of PIPTP UNAIR in the International Faculty Development Program in India is part of UNAIR's efforts to strengthen cross-border academic networks.

International forums provide a space for universities to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in addressing various global educational challenges, ranging from digital transformation and educational inclusivity to ethics and well-being.

Through involvement in various international collaborations, UNAIR continues to strengthen its position as a center of excellence that is not only oriented toward academic achievement but also drives tangible impacts for society.

The presence of PIPTP UNAIR at the IFDP forum in India also shows that educational innovations developed by Indonesian universities have a space to be shared and discussed within the global education ecosystem.

This collaboration is expected to open up broader cooperation opportunities and strengthen the contribution of universities in realizing inclusive, innovative, and sustainable education.
