BOJONEGORO, JurnalPost.com - Spending his days on the road searching for passengers requires a motorcycle taxi driver to be adept at time management. Beyond earning an income, they must also manage their finances to ensure both vehicle maintenance and family needs are met.

For Surlan, a motorcycle taxi driver in Bojonegoro, East Java, easy access to banking services has become a vital tool in his daily routine. As a customer of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), he utilizes the BRImo digital service to support his daily transaction needs, including sending money to his family.

His job as a motorcycle taxi driver demands high mobility. Most of his time is spent finding and transporting passengers, making it difficult for him to visit a bank branch or an ATM whenever he needs to conduct a transaction.

“When I am working, I spend most of my time on the road looking for and dropping off passengers. So, having banking services accessible via my phone is certainly helpful when I need to make a transaction,” Surlan explained.

According to him, income from his work as a motorcycle taxi driver must be managed carefully. Since the number of passengers varies daily, his income can fluctuate.

From the money he earns, a portion must be set aside for operational costs, including fuel and vehicle maintenance. Meanwhile, family needs remain a priority that cannot be ignored.

Facilitating Transactions Amidst a Busy Schedule

Surlan believes that the availability of digital banking services provides flexibility for workers who spend most of their time away from home.

Through BRImo, customers can transfer funds to a destination account using their mobile phones, provided they have internet access and the application installed.

“With the transfer service through BRImo, customers can send money to the intended account as needed, as long as they have a stable internet connection and access to the application,” he said.

This convenience means that financial transactions no longer require a visit to a bank branch. For workers like Surlan, the time usually spent searching for an ATM can now be used to continue working.

Nevertheless, using digital banking services still requires diligence. Customers must ensure the recipient's account number and the amount of money being sent are correct before completing the transaction.

Managing Income for Family Needs

Beyond the ease of transactions, managing income is a significant concern for workers with daily earnings.

As a motorcycle taxi driver, Surlan must calculate his vehicle's operational needs while ensuring that a portion of his earnings can be used to meet household requirements.

“For workers with high mobility like motorcycle taxi drivers, financial management is an important part of maintaining a balance between work needs and household needs,” he said.

On the other hand, using mobile banking services must also be accompanied by an awareness of account security. Users should never share their PIN, password, or OTP code with anyone else.

Customers also need to ensure that the application they are using is the official one and must remain cautious of messages or links claiming to be from the bank.

Surlan's experience shows that digital financial services are becoming increasingly integrated into the daily routines of the public, including those working in the transportation sector.

For motorcycle taxi drivers who rely on daily passenger income, the ease of conducting transactions is not just a matter of technology. These services help them manage their time amidst the hustle of earning a living.

With mobile banking access, the need to send money to family can be handled more flexibly without having to leave work to visit a bank branch.
