PANGKEP, JurnalPost.com — A blood donation drive held to mark the 58 anniversary of PT Semen Tonasa successfully collected 655 units of blood, exceeding the initial target of 500 donors.
The event, themed “Your Drop of Blood Means Everything to Those in Need,” took place at the PT Semen Tonasa Auditorium in Pangkajene and Islands Regency (Pangkep), South Sulawesi, on Tuesday (27/10/2026).
This one-day humanitarian initiative received an enthusiastic response from both employees and the general public. The event was organized in collaboration with the Semen Tonasa Medical Center (STMC), the Makassar Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Blood Transfusion Unit, and the Batara Siang Hospital Blood Transfusion Unit.
Beyond celebrating the company's anniversary, the blood drive aims to help maintain blood stock levels for those in need, particularly within Pangkep Regency and surrounding areas.
Participant Enthusiasm Exceeds Targets
Head of the Semen Tonasa Medical Center (STMC), Dr. Ahmad Gazali Basir, noted that blood donation is a routine activity organized by the company.
However, this year's event holds special significance as part of the 58 anniversary commemoration of PT Semen Tonasa.
“For this event, we targeted 500 donors. However, by the end of the day, we had collected 655 units of blood. This indicates a very high level of enthusiasm among participants,” said Ahmad Gazali Basir.
According to him, this achievement reflects the strong commitment of employees and the public to participate in humanitarian efforts.
Through collaboration with various parties, the collected blood is expected to help meet transfusion needs for patients in healthcare facilities.
Semen Tonasa Management Joins the Donation
Director of Finance, Risk Management, and General Affairs at PT Semen Tonasa, Sulaiha Muhyiddin, who opened the event, expressed her appreciation to all parties who supported the blood drive.
Appreciation was extended to the committee for the 58 anniversary of PT Semen Tonasa, the PMI staff, medical personnel, as well as the participating employees and community members.
Sulaiha stated that blood donation is a simple form of social concern that provides significant benefits to others, especially patients requiring blood transfusions.
“A single drop of donated blood is a great help to others. Beyond helping those in need, this activity can also provide health benefits to the donor if performed according to medical requirements,” she said.
She emphasized that as the company reaches its 58 year, PT Semen Tonasa is committed to fostering a culture of sharing and social responsibility, both within the company and the wider community.
She added that the spirit of humanity should not be limited to anniversary celebrations but should be integrated into daily life.
“I hope this spirit of care and togetherness is always maintained at PT Semen Tonasa. I hope the entire series of events runs smoothly and brings benefits to us all,” she added.
This commitment was also demonstrated by the direct participation of the PT Semen Tonasa board of directors.
President Director of PT Semen Tonasa, Anis, Operations Director Mochamad Alfin Zaini, and Director of Finance, Risk Management, and General Affairs Sulaiha Muhyiddin all donated blood during the event.
The involvement of the management team serves as both support for social activities and an example to employees regarding the importance of caring for others.
Strengthening the Spirit of Humanity and Solidarity
The blood drive is one of the ways PT Semen Tonasa demonstrates its concern for community needs, particularly in supporting blood availability for patients undergoing medical treatment.
With 655 units of blood collected, this activity is expected to contribute to healthcare services through the participating blood transfusion units.
PT Semen Tonasa hopes that the spirit of solidarity, mutual cooperation, and care fostered during the 58 anniversary will be sustained.
The company also hopes that this event will inspire more parties to become voluntary and regular blood donors, ensuring that the community's blood needs continue to be met.
