PANGKEP, JurnalPost.com — Employment opportunities are opening up for the residents of Pangkajene and Kepulauan (Pangkep) Regency, South Sulawesi. A total of 20 companies are participating in the Pangkep Talent Connect 2026 job fair, offering 380 job vacancies.

The two-day job fair, held from October 13–14, 2026, at the Pangkep Regent's Office courtyard, serves as a local government initiative to expand public access to employment.

Through the Manpower Office, the Pangkep Regency Government is connecting companies in need of staff with residents currently seeking employment.

Deputy Regent of Pangkep, H. Abd Rahman Assegaf, stated that the event aims not only to create job opportunities but also to build stronger relationships between the local government, companies, and the workforce.

“This activity is a manifestation of the government's commitment to connecting job seekers with the business and industrial world. This job fair is not just a recruitment event, but a space for collaboration to improve the quality of human resources so they are superior, competent, and ready to compete in the job market,” he said.

According to him, the professional world continuously requires workers with skills and abilities that match company needs. Therefore, improving the quality of human resources must go hand-in-hand with expanding employment opportunities.

The local government hopes that the presence of these companies at the event will provide greater opportunities for Pangkep residents to enter the workforce.

Pangkep Manpower Office Prepares Recruitment Access from 20 Companies

Head of the Pangkep Manpower Office, Sulfida, explained that the Pangkep Talent Connect 2026 job fair presents hundreds of job positions offered by participating companies.

“With this job fair, we are opening employment opportunities for Pangkep residents who need work. There are 20 companies participating with a total of 380 job vacancies,” said Sulfida.

The participation of these dozens of companies is expected to broaden choices for job seekers, especially those looking for work that aligns with their educational background or skills.

Sulfida encourages the public to take advantage of this opportunity to seek information regarding recruitment opportunities and the requirements set by each company.

She also hopes that this job fair will help reduce the unemployment rate in Pangkep Regency.

However, the number of available vacancies does not necessarily reflect the number of workers who will be hired. Each company still maintains its own selection mechanisms and requirements that applicants must meet.

Workforce Absorption is the Goal

The issue of employment opportunities is a challenge that requires the local government's attention, particularly in connecting the competencies of job seekers with the needs of the business world.

Job fairs like Pangkep Talent Connect are expected to bridge both needs in a single event.

For job seekers, the opportunity to meet directly with company representatives can help them understand the positions required, applicant qualifications, and the selection process.

Meanwhile, companies have the opportunity to recruit potential workers from the local community.

The opening of the Pangkep Talent Connect 2026 job fair was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Deputy Regent of Pangkep, H. Abd Rahman Assegaf.

The Pangkep Regency Government hopes that similar activities can continue to strengthen cooperation with the business sector in creating job opportunities for the community.

Beyond the number of vacancies offered, the recruitment results are crucial to seeing how much this event contributes to the absorption of the local workforce.

With the involvement of companies and the support of the local government, the Pangkep Talent Connect 2026 job fair is expected to be a pathway for residents to secure employment while improving the competitiveness of the Pangkep workforce.
